Store selections
A barrel pick is a single barrel our team tastes and selects at the distillery, then bottles just for this store — not blended into the standard release. Every barrel is a little different, which is the whole reason to bother. When one lands, it's a one-time run and it doesn't come back.
We started doing picks because a single barrel tastes like a specific place and moment in a rickhouse, not like an average. Our picks are chosen with the Miami County Whiskey Society — local people who know what they like and aren't shy about saying so. Our first was a Knob Creek cask strength at 120 proof. Our second comes from Union Horse, right here in Kansas.

Our very first barrel pick, and it did not last long. Selected by the Miami County Whiskey Society, bottled at 120 proof straight from a single barrel — no blending, no dilution. Gone from the shelf, but here's what it was.

Our second barrel pick, again selected by the Miami County Whiskey Society — and this one's close to home. Union Horse is a family-owned, grain-to-glass distillery in Lenexa, about forty minutes up the road, distilling Midwest grain on their own copper pot still since 2010. A Kansas society picking a Kansas barrel for a Kansas store.

How it works
"Allocated" means the distillery only sends us a small, fixed quantity — we can't order more no matter how many people ask. That causes a lot of confusion, so here's exactly how we handle it.
Most allocated bourbon is first come, first served — when it hits the shelf, it's available to whoever is there. No lottery, no entry fee.
On tight releases we may limit quantities so more people get a shot at a bottle. We'll tell you up front when that applies.
A valid government-issued photo ID showing you're 21 or older, same as any purchase here.
We post releases and tastings on Instagram and Facebook as they happen. Sign up for bottle alerts and we'll email you too.
Yes — for our regular customers. If you shop with us and we know what you're after, we'll set something aside when it comes in. That's a relationship, not a program you sign up for.
Shop with us and tell us what you're looking for. Regulars get held bottles because we know their names and their taste — that's the whole system.
Who picks the barrels
Our barrels aren't chosen by a marketing team — they're chosen by the Miami County Whiskey Society, a local group of people who take their bourbon seriously and taste through samples together before anything gets bottled with our name on it. When you buy one of our picks, you're drinking what your neighbours picked.
They run meet-ups and talk bourbon year round. If you want to learn more about whiskey, or just meet people around here who are into it, their Facebook group is the place to start — you don't need to know anything to join.
